Mar. 13 - Dizin Ski Resort - Dizin, Iran

Aida Mansouri, 21, was born in Tehran, Iran. I meet Aida and her friend on the slopes of Dizin ski resort, about 1 1/2 hours drive from north of Tehran. This was Aida's forth times snowboarding. In Iran, women must wear Islamic covering (hejab) at all times, but in Dizin, the enforcement is not as strict. Aida is an electrical engineering student in Tehran.

Maryam Vafaie, 26, was born in Tehran, Iran. Maryam is traveling to the city of Shiraz for the upcoming Iranian new year (Naw-Ruz) to be with her family. She is fluent in English.

Mar. 11 - Mirdamad - Tehran, Iran

Reza Khalili, 30, is a rock star. At least he looks like one! He was born in Tehran and now lives in Karaj (about 100 km west of Tehran). Reza teaches music and plays guitar in a rock band in Iran. He is part of the large underground music movement in Iran.

Morteza Nikoubazl, 34, was born in Tehran. Morteza is a freelance photographer with Reuters news agency. I photographed him outside of Reuters offices in Tehran. During the Islamic Revolution Moreteza was only 4 years old.

Hossien Zakeri, was born in Qazvin, Iran. Hossien, who said he is "old enough," when I asked him about his age, posed for me in a public bath. The public baths are traditional baths in smaller cities in Iran. Of course this was a men-only bath.

Kasra Najafi, 17, was born in Tehran, Iran. Over 70% of Iranians are under the age of 30, so it is typical to see groups of young Iranians like Kasra all the time. Kasra is my second cousin.

Ali Jaffari, 75, was born in the holy city of Qom, Iran. Ali who would like be called Haj Ali, as he is a Haji (one who has made a pilgrimage to Mecca), sells fresh fruits and vegetables from a small shop in central Tehran.

Mar. 2 - Central Tehran - Tehran, Iran

Batool Jamali, 29, was born in Ardabil, Iran. Today is Batool's birthday. She is photographed in her kitchen where she prepared a nice meal. Batool is a mother and a wife and lives with her husband in central Tehran.
